1 tablespoon honey or agave
-
½ teaspoon cinnamon
-
¼ cup fresh mint leaves (½ chiffonade, ½ whole)
Instructions
-
Soften and whip the butter:
Let the butter sit at room temperature for 30–40 minutes. Place in a bowl and whip lightly with a spoon or spatula until smooth and spreadable. -
Spread it on the board:
Using the back of a spoon or small offset spatula, spread the butter across a wooden board or serving platter in decorative swirls. Leave texture on the surface for a rustic look. -
Add salt and zest:
Sprinkle the flakey sea salt and lemon zest evenly over the butter. These create your base flavor layer. -
Choose your toppings:
Pick one flavor combination (or mix and match) and sprinkle toppings evenly across the butter. Use fresh herbs or edible flowers to create contrast and visual interest. -
Serve immediately:
Pair with warm, crusty sourdough, crackers, or veggies. For extra flair, add mini spreaders or cheese knives for scooping.
Notes
-
Whipping butter makes it easier to spread and prettier on the board.
-
For vegan version, use plant-based butter like Miyoko’s and maple syrup instead of honey.
-
Add pomegranate seeds, nuts, or microgreens for a fancy holiday version.
-
Butter can be made a few hours in advance—just keep chilled and let it soften 15 minutes before serving.
-
Toasted bread works best for texture contrast.
